About Rosie

The First Year, in Michigan

Rosie was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, on June 30, 2023, as part of Earthstone Poodles’ Lucky Litter. She was the smallest in the seven-puppy litter, and the only apricot poodle. She is still in touch with her siblings, all of whom have grown up to be gorgeous dogs.

Rosie moved into a home in Ypsilanti, home to a World War II aircraft factory with a tenuous claim of being the workplace of the real Rosie the Riveter. She was particularly fond of the downstairs neighbor and her dog, who patiently let Rosie smother her with kisses.

Rosie attended a fantastic puppy class taught by Abbie Volpone and learned to sit, touch hands, shake, and lie down, and passed the AKC S.T.A.R. puppy test. Her favorite part of class was playtime—she loved teasing the other puppies, none of whom could catch her.

New Mexico

Rosie spent her first birthday in a motel, while traveling to her new home in Albuquerque, New Mexico. There, she made fast friends with her human’s relatives’ dogs Pia and Charlie.

Rosie lives near a fantastic park, which she absolutely loves to visit and hates to leave. She has made lots of friends in the neighborhood, whom she sees regularly on her walks. There are even regular meet-ups in the park for dogs and their humans, with treats!

Favorite Activities

Rosie loves toys and has many balls, squeaky rubber toys, rope toys, and plushies. Through lots of practice, she has perfected the art of flipping her bed over on top of a toy to make her bed squeak. She is also an excellent ball retriever, and she’s been working on learning to differentiate yellow and blue!

Rosie eventually found a wonderful groomer in Albuquerque, whom she loves to visit despite hating to have her face shaved. She is an enthusiastic kisser of all of her canine and human friends.
